Frequently Asked

Common questions, answered

Helpful detail on how independent auctioneering works, what to expect, and how to get started with The Auction Company.

Are quotes obligation-free?
Yes, quotes are obligation free. Contact us today to speak further.
Can I add Audio-Visual services later?
Yes, though this is subject to availability. The more notice you can give us, the better — last-minute additions can't be guaranteed.
Can I book an online auction?
Yes, we can facilitate an online auction for you. Simply indicate this requirement when booking (tick the relevant box on your booking form). Please note that additional fees apply for the setup and running of online auctions.
Can I reschedule my booking?
Yes. Depending on the circumstances, a rebooking fee may apply. Get in touch with us to discuss.
Can we meet the auctioneer before the campaign?
We recommend it! Every booking includes a pre-auction briefing by phone with the lead agent to develop a strategy and help us tailor the call to the property. Your auctioneer can also attend your final vendor meeting by phone or video call to introduce themselves, subject to an invitation by the lead agent.
Can we request a specific auctioneer?
You're welcome to let us know your preferred auctioneer when you book. We'll do our best to accommodate your request, subject to availability.
Can you guarantee my preferred auctioneer?
We'll always do our best to find a date and time that suits both you and your preferred auctioneer when you request a booking. However, we can't guarantee their availability, as this is subject to their existing schedule.
Can you handle online auctions?
Yes. We are equipped to handle online auctions in certain circumstances. Please note online auctions incur an additional fee for technical setup and staffing. For more information contact the team.
Can you provide both an auctioneer and a campaign consultation?
While your auctioneer can provide general advice during your briefing calls, the time for this will be limited. If you'd like to upskill your team, we offer auction campaign training covering bidder qualification, vendor liaison, auction day processes and post-auction negotiation. See our training services page for more information on our programs.
Do I need to bring Auction Rules to the auction?
Victorian legislation requires that auction rules be on display for 30 minutes before the auction begins. While our auctioneers carry a set of auction rules, we recommend having your own on hand to help ensure timeframe compliance.
Do you bundle services for repeat agency clients?
Please get in touch with us directly to discuss your needs and we'd be happy to consider an arrangement that works in the best interest of both companies.
Do you call both residential and commercial auctions?
Yes. We auction both commercial and residential property. Commercial work includes office, retail, industrial, childcare, medical, mixed-use and development sites. Residential includes houses, apartments, townhouses, and rural/lifestyle.

Yes. We have the resource to handle setting up and running an online auction. Get in touch with us for more details. Additional fees may apply.

We are Melbourne based, and can travel across Victoria for on-site auctions. We also conduct boardroom and online auctions if an on-site auction is not practical. We are open to enquiry for interstate engagements.
